What are your greatest regrets, if you have any? What would you have done differently?

He would argue that there are no gaps for regrets in life, if you do things you want to do, because, without these things, there wouldn't be any resemblance of people as they are today - himself included. That being said, he does deeply regret the way he acted when it came to his arrest. It wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been frustrated with Reira, and if he had stood his ground and moved on, instead of attempting to drown it. The tours were canceled because of him, and he jeopardized the band.

He'd have dealt with it differently, surely so. Perhaps he would have blocked Reira after a final decision of moving on, perhaps he would crack and go see her, but going back to Ryoko, who he knows uses him but was a sole source of misguided comfort at the time, wouldn't have been it.

What does family mean to you and who do you consider a part of your family?

Shin's grown up completely devoid of family love. A father who admits he has never had any sort of affection for him, a brother who despises him. It's said through and through in canon just how much he wishes his parents hadn't given him life. His visions on family become more open due to his attachment to Nana Komatsu, who genuinely cares for him much like a mother would, to which Shin responds as calling her as such. In his view of the world, everyone wants something out of him, be it his affection, his potential, his heart... However, Nana Komatsu treats him kindly and expects nothing out of him in return. That's what family becomes to him, Nana Komatsu and the warmth of acceptance regardless of what he's able to provide her with.

An enemy of your faction has asked for a meeting, proposing a truce of sorts to deal with a greater threat. On one hand, there is indeed a threat at hand, but on the other, this person double-crossing you is just as likely an outcome. Do you agree to the meeting? Do you trust them?

Agree, yes. Trust is a whole thing all together. Shin's particularly great at reading situations and people, especially if these things pull from past experience. He would never trust, but if there is something he needs from an agreement like this, he would go and pretend to have his guard down, doublecrossing the other himself if he has the chance.

What is the most frightening thing you've ever done? What part of you did it test the most?

The most frightening thing Shin's ever done was to leave Sweden and move into Japan without speaking the language properly, without understanding the culture, without any perspective on life. It tested his will to find something for himself - he wouldn't amount to anything staying at his stepfather's, in a neglectful environment. His mental health would sink, and he made the choice of leaving so he could have a shot at getting away from everything that worsened him.

This is big - Nana Oosaki herself says Shin acts like everything is cool with him because he doesn't have the determination to challenge the odds. She's right, but here, he did.

POWERS & ABILITIES: He is just a normal person. Great bassist, liver of steel.

SUITABILITY: Nana as a canon deals with a lot of dark themes. From unhealthy obsessions and possessive compulsions to drug use to child sex work. Shin's own story has themes of suicide, self-loathing, sex work, imbalances of power, teenage pedophilia, drug and alcohol abuse, neglect, abuse, and several other misfortunes. The only thing he hasn't experienced that would have him bat an eye would be violence.

FACTION SUITABILITY:
shuten clan

Shin does like his money, his drinking, and his partying... And unfortunately, his lying. He would be a misfit in the Shuten clan, as he doesn't really have discipline, and hardly believes that he has a lot of strength on his own. Furthermore, he isn't a fighter, and lying is really what got him where he is today, considering Blast didn't even know his real birth date until they were way into the contract. That being said, gambling, drinking and partying are very interesting to Shin, and while he would feel like he's in a very strange place, like someone changed his application from positions in a job interview, he'd find a way to fit in and survive.

... Probably by lying.

tamamo clan

The Tamamo Clan is where Shin would feel the most comfortable in. He agrees wholeheartedly with the core philosophy, as he too thinks if you don't have fun in life, it's meaningless. He also believes in authenticity, and would be very impressed by the Tenko-hime's mother story.

While Shin has stopped sex work and I won't have him pick it up, he also would find great comfort in providing services such as music or be in hospitality services. He likes the idea of being able to provide comfort, even if it's temporary, even if it's a lie, be it in the form of interaction, acting, music, etc.

sutoku alliance

Knowledge does grant tremendous power. Shin would absolutely agree that knowledge is an important tool in decision making, and if you don't have it, you'll get played. He has a tendency of being very observant, after all, able to make educated points from previous information and assumptions he makes from watching.

He wouldn't quite agree with the asceticism of the clan, but he'd have good insights that could be useful and used.

Shin's a punk. Fuck order! Administration is a hindrance, bureaucracy is stupid, down with the system, etc, laws are constricting. He would absolutely hate the Enma, and most likely die of boredom and refuse to do work..... He'd be in trouble rather often, because he wouldn't hesitate to make his point known....
